Total enrollment at Syracuse for the 2018-19 academic year (AY) was a record high 22,803. In fact, total enrollment has increased for each of the past 10 fall semesters, growing by an annual average of 1.68%. While many universities have experienced shrinking international student interest and enrollment, Syracuse has managed to continue to grow its global reach and reputation. International student enrollment increased by 3.56% in fall 2018, and the 4,366 students account 19.15% of the entire campus.

The Orange, as Syracuse’s athletic teams are known, have tallied 28 national championships - 14 of them in men’s lacrosse. In 2003, under longtime head coach Jim Boeheim, the men’s basketball team won the NCAA Championship.
